How heartbreak turned Hausa love singer into viral sensation

A Hausa love singer, popularly known as “Nanaye,” has shared how personal heartbreak unexpectedly propelled him to fame after his emotional song went viral across social media platforms.

The singer, Usama Muhammad Bello, disclosed this during an interview with SolaceBase TV, where he reflected on his nearly decade-long journey in the music industry and the turning point that brought him into the spotlight.

Bello explained that although he had spent over nine years pursuing music, it was a painful experience of betrayal by a woman he intended to marry that ultimately made him widely known.

According to him, the emotional weight of the experience inspired his song titled “Ki Je Ki Allah Ya Isa,” which resonated deeply with listeners.

He said he was initially overwhelmed with anger and disappointment after discovering that the woman had married someone else despite their ongoing relationship.

However, he noted that the unexpected success of the song helped him move past the bitterness.

“I felt hurt and betrayed, but when I turned that pain into music and people connected with it, everything changed,” he said.

The song quickly gained traction online, particularly on TikTok, where many users—especially men who claimed to have had similar experiences—began miming and sharing it.

Bello noted that the widespread use of the song contributed to its virality, generating thousands of likes, shares, and comments, as well as sparking reactions from women, some of whom challenged the narrative of deception.

Recounting the events that led to the song, Bello said he had travelled to southern Nigeria for trading in order to raise money for marriage.

While away, he maintained regular communication with the woman and had no reason to সন্দ suspect she was involved with someone else.

‘’I trusted her completely. We spoke often, and she never gave any sign that something was wrong,” he said.

He added that upon returning to Kano after nearly six months, he was shocked to learn that the woman was getting married that very day—a revelation he described as devastating.

‘’That day broke me. All my plans and hopes were shattered instantly,” he said.

Bello explained that he turned to music as a form of healing, using his experience to craft lyrics that reflected his emotional state.

He noted that while the song includes phrases such as “Allah ya isa” and “kin yaudareni munafuka,” he was careful to avoid outright abusive language.

‘’These are words people use in emotional situations. I chose them carefully to express pain without crossing the line,” he explained.

The singer said the overwhelming acceptance of the song took him by surprise, adding that it not only brought him recognition but also transformed his life, as fans now approach him for photographs and interactions.

Although he began his career with love-themed songs, Bello revealed that he is gradually exploring hip-hop, citing DJ AB as a role model in that genre.

He also acknowledged Auta MG Boy and Hamisu Breaker as major influences in his music journey.

Despite the painful experience, Bello said he has forgiven the woman involved but advised women to be honest in relationships.

“They should fear God, love sincerely, and be open if they are no longer interested. It’s better to be honest than to deceive,” he said.

His story, blending heartbreak with artistic expression, continues to resonate with audiences, further cementing his rising status in the Hausa music scene.
