Ibadan Explosion: Kano based SAN recounts losses

Following the massive explosion that hit the Bodija area, Ibadan, Oyo State capital on Tuesday, that left 5 persons dead and 77 hospitalized,  a Kano-based Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Barrister Nuraini Soladoye Jimoh recounts his losses to SOLACEBASE as many residents lost hundreds of millions of naira properties in the catastrophe.

Barrister Nuraini Jimoh, the ‘’Aare Baamofin of Ibadanland’’ in an exclusive interview with SOLACEBASE on Thursday said two of his buildings at the Bodija old GRA, Ibadan were destroyed with three cars.

‘’I was in Abuja when my house manager called me to inform me of the devastation,‘’ Jimoh said.

The legal luminary said his Landcruiser Prado Jeep 2020 edition, Honda CRV, and another saloon car were seriously damaged.

He said the environmental impact assessment carried out on the houses close to the former minister of justice’s house, late Bola Ige, indicated that with the cracks on the buildings, blown-off roofs, and others, it was advised that the buildings should be demolished for safety.

He expressed surprise over the impact of the explosion noting that with the statement that the cause of the destruction has been traced to illegal miners in the areas saying that the environment is strictly residential with few hotels.

‘’The area is strictly residential, not commercial, so it is a bit difficult to comprehend how illegal miners will have explosives in the old GRA.’’
