ICPC appoints new spokesperson
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has appointed Mr. John Okor Odey, a deputy director, as its new spokesperson.
Odey succeeds Mr. Demola Bakare, who was the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission spokesperson and will also lead the ICPC’s newly established Media and Public Communications Unit under the office of the ICPC chairman.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, in a statement by Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu, said it anticipated that Odey’s extensive expertise in communication will strengthen ICPC’s public engagement, enhance media relations, and support ongoing efforts to deepen transparency and public awareness of its anti-corruption mandate.

The new Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission spokesperson Odey began his professional journey as an editor and later gained broadcast experience as a scriptwriter and presenter.
Since joining the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, he has served in several strategic capacities across public enlightenment, protocol, and zonal operations. His career spans media and public communication, protocol, strategic messaging, and reputation management.
He holds a degree in English/Literature, a Master’s Degree in Leadership Studies, and MPhil in Leadership and Strategic Studies, in addition to a Professional Diploma in Public Relations.
Odey is also a certified member of key professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
