ICPC tasks 266 new cadets to make Nigeria corruption-free

The Chairman of Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Commission (ICPC), Dr Musa Aliyu, has tasked the newly-inducted 266 cadets of the commission to strive to make Nigeria a corrupt-free nation.

Aliyu gave the charge on Monday at the Passing Out Parade of the cadets held at the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria in Keffi, Nasarawa State.

He also urged them to embrace the culture of accountability, responsibility, and efficiency in the discharge of their responsibilities of ridding the nation of endemic corruption.

”Over the past eight weeks, you have been immersed in a rigorous and dedicated training program that was meticulously designed to not only impart knowledge but also instill a sense of integrity and justice.

” As you graduate today, know that these core values are now part of your professional DNA.

“As custodians of integrity and justice, you are entrusted with a duty that demands unwavering dedication, selflessness, and unyielding resolve,” the ICPC chairman told the graduating cadets.

He added that as the guardians of the ICPC’s future, they must uphold discipline and be impartial at all times to set shining examples.

“Treat every individual with respect and fairness, knowing that in your hands lays the power to inspire trust and confidence in our institutions.

“In this regard, the commission has introduced a strategic policy thrust known as CARE for Impact which centers on Culture, Accountability, Responsibility, and Efficiency.

“This vision reflects the new leadership commitment to reshaping the Commission’s operational landscape and aligning it with the broader goals of the Commission,” Aliyu added.

He also reminded them that in the discharge of their duties, they would “face trials, doubts, and temptations,” which they must avoid in line with their oath to protect the nation from corrupt elements.

“You are the custodians of ICPC’s future, the bearers of our ethos, and the vanguards of our vision.

“ Embrace these pillars of culture, accountability, responsibility, and efficiency, and you shall carve paths of unparalleled achievement,” the chairman said.

Earlier, the Provost of the academy, Prof. Olatunde Babawale, said the continuous training of personnel would have a positive effect on the fight against corruption and related crimes in the country.

Babawale, represented by an Acting Director in the commission, Mr Richrd Bello, said that the academy would continue to equip ICPC officials with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform at required levels.

“The Academy is also designed to provide training for public officers, public servants, and the general public on good governance, accountability, transparency, integrity, ethics, and all issues relating to corruption and corrupt practices.

“As well as build a body of knowledge that will facilitate the development of knowledge-based anti-corruption policies in the country.

“This is what drives our Philosophy that “corruption and related crimes can be controlled or managed through a system of training and re-training, geared towards sound policy formulation, operational efficiency and good management culture,” he said.(NAN)
