2024: International Islamic Financial Organisation appoints Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar, board member
An international financial body, the Accounting and Auditing Organisation for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) has appointed the Chief Imam, Al-Fur’qan Mosque in Kano, Sheikh Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar, member of its newly reconstituted Shariah Board of the organisation.
SolaceBase reports that Sheikh Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar is among the 22 reconstituted members of AAOIFI Shari’ah Board for the 2024-2028 term appointed last week.

The decision to appoint them was adopted at the apex international Standard Setting Organisations for the Islamic Finance Industry board meeting, held at its headquarters in Bahrain.
AAOIFI, established in 1991 and based in Bahrain, is the leading international not-for-profit organization primarily responsible for the development and issuance of standards for the global Islamic finance industry.

Dr Bashir was a former Special Adviser to CBN governor, on Islamic Banking, under Muhammadu Sanusi II.

Also, he was a former Kano State Sharia Commission, Commissioner and member Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, during the administration of Malam Ibrahim Shekarau
