Former deputy governor candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 governorship election in Kano State, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, has felicitated with Muslim ummah across the country and the globe as they mark the commencement of the New Islamic Year of 1446, after Hijrah.
In a statement on Monday, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo urged Muslims to embrace the teachings of Islam, saying it advocates peace, tolerance, and compassion.

Sule Garo said that the Islamic year is spiritually important to all Muslims, saying the season reminds Muslims of their religious practices, their responsibilities to Allah the Almighty and to their fellow humans.
He said, “The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, had declared Sunday July 7, 2024, as the first day of Muharram.

“This marks the beginning of the Islamic year 1446, after Hijrah.

“The season is spiritually important as it reminds us of our responsibility on earth in accordance with the noble teachings of the religion of Islam.
“Let us use this opportunity to support one another and help fellow humans. I wish Muslims in Nigeria and across the globe a happy new Islamic year. May this year bring more blessings to us. Amin.”
