Jigawa holds virtual training for legal practitioners
The Jigawa State Ministry of Justice has conducted virtual training for its prosecutors with a view to bridging the gap created in the process of justice dispensation by the current global pandemic.
This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by Public Relations Officer of the ministry of justice, Zainab Baba Sintali and issued to newsmen.
The statement said the training with a theme “The tools, the apps and the software for virtual legal practice” was meant to equip the legal practitioners in the state with the modern technologies to be able to carry on their activities even during the lockdown occasioned by coronavirus.
It said in an e- keynote address Jigawa State Governor, Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar expressed concern over the delay COVID-19 has caused in the administration of justice.
‘’The training was put together to re-orient public lawyers in the state to ICT compliant in the dispensation of justice, ‘’the governor said.

“Looking at the current global technological advancement, and the effect of the coronavirus global pandemic, which has adversely delayed most legal proceedings, we, therefore, need to create alternatives on how to bridge the gap the pandemic has created.’’
According to the statement,’’ the E-training which held on “Google classroom app, had four resource persons, including Prof. Victor W. Mbarika(USA), Prof. Abdullahi I. Musa, Emporia(USA), Prof. Ani Munirah Mohamad, Utara University (Malaysia) and a seasoned private lawyer, Barrister Ibrahim Sule, Kano (Nigeria).
It noted that participants in the training resolved that for virtual legal services to be delivered in the state, all existing legal firms must be virtually connected.
“There must be an existing secured online portal, with virtual offices, virtual connections, collaborations, and networking. Both lawyers and clients must have access to information of all proceedings virtually.”
The state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu expressed appreciation to both the resource persons and the participants for their contributions.
He urged the participants to utilize the knowledge to make Jigawa state a leader in virtual legal practice in Nigeria.
