JUST IN: Court stops Kano govt from demolishing buildings on BUK road

A Kano High Court has restrained the state government from demolishing structures marked for demolition allegedly sited on ancient city walls on BUK road

SOLACEBASE had reported that Kano State Government had last month marked buildings along BUK road by Kano City walls for demolition describing the building as illegal structures.

The presiding judge , Justice Hafsat Yahaya granted the interim order on Tuesday.

The court then adjourned to October 26, 2023 for hearing of substantive suit.

The plaintiff in the suit are Bashir Abdullahi Albasu and 19 others while the defendants are governor of Kano State, Attorney General of Kano State and Kano Urban Planning and Development Agency.

Barrister Ibrahim Adamu represented the plaintiff and moved the ex-parte motion which was granted by the court.

SOLACEBASE gathered that the defendants have all been served.
