A former Kano State Gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 general elections, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, has resigned his membership from the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Gawuna, in a resignation letter dated March 29, 2026, and addressed to the APC Chairman, Gawuna Ward, Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, said his decision to leave the party was “voluntary and personal.”
The letter read in part, “I hereby formally resign my membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC), effective March 29, 2026.”
He expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunities he enjoyed during his time as a member.

Mr Gawuna, who was a former deputy governor, did not disclose his next political move.
The development is seen as part of ongoing political realignment in the state,, which has intensified following recent defections.
Meanwhile, credible sources close to the former deputy governor said Gawuna is expected to hold a meeting with former governor of the state, Rabiu Kwankwaso, who defected to ADC this afternoon, tonight at the Kwankwasiyya leader’s residence on Miller Road.
