UPDATED: Ganduje fights back as court puts suspension on hold
A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has granted an ex parte order restraining the All Progressives Congress (APC) from suspending Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as member and national chairman of the ruling party.
The court in an order obtained by SolaceBase with suit number FHC/KN/CS/122/2024, the presiding judge, Justice A.M Liman mandates all the parties to maintain the status quo before the purported emergency meeting of the alleged Executive members of APC Ganduje Ward, and to stay all action in respect of this matter pending the hearing and determination of the substantive application.

The order was issued and signed on April 17th, 2024.
SolaceBase reports that the Applicant in the suit is Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and the Respondents are Haladu Gwanjo, Malami Mai AC, Muhammadu Baiti, Danmalam Gale, Musa Lado, Laminu Sani Barguma, Umar Sanda, Auwalu Galadima, Abubakar Dauda,
Others are the Nigeria Police Force, Commissioner of Police, Kano Command, Inspector General of Police, Department of State Services and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
The court also restrained all parties from implementing purported decision reached during the purported emergency meeting of the alleged executive members of APC Ganduje Ward, held at Ganduje Ward of Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State on the 15th April, 2024 pending the hearing and determination of the substantive application for the enforcement of fundamental rights of Ganduje.
Justice A. M. Liman however, fixed the matter for hearing on April 30.
This newspaper reports how some APC members in Ganduje ward suspended the party’s national chairman in a press conference on Monday. They said Ganduje was suspended from the party to allow him to face an allegation of corruption leveled against him by the Kano State Government.
But in a swift response, the State Working Committee of the APC sanctioned the Ganduje ward executives hours after the suspension was announced.
“We have evidence of meetings between the State Government officials and those that suspended the National Chairman, and the state working committee has agreed to sanction them for six months and they stand suspended. The suspension announced by the ward executives is invalid, null and void and urged concerned parties not to bother about it,” the state executives said in their statement.
However, a Kano State High Court, on Wednesday, granted an order restraining Ganduje from parading himself as a party member.
The presiding judge, Justice Usman Na’aaba after granting an exparte order restraining Abdullahi Ganduji from parading himself as National Chairman of APC, then adjourned the matter to April, 30th, 2024.
