JUST IN: Gov. Yusuf reappoints Khalifa Sanusi II as Kano Emir

Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf has reappointed Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II as Emir of Kano.

SolaceBase reports that Gov. Yusuf on Thursday announced the appointment at the government house after signing the Kano Emirate law as amended.

The governor signed the law at exactly 5:10 pm alongside his deputy, the Speaker of the State Assembly and other principal officers in the government.

Similarly, the governor has directed all five former emirs of Kano, Bichi, Rano, Gaya and Karaye to vacate their palaces within 48 hours from 5.00 pm today and hand over all properties in their possession to the Commissioner for local government/deputy governor.

Under the new Kano Emirate repeal law 2024, Kano State is now under one emirate.

It could be recalled that former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje had dethroned Muhammadu Sanusi in 2020, following a personal rift.
