JUST IN: NCAA clears Max Air to resume operations

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has approved the resumption of domestic operations for Max Air following a successful audit of the airline’s safety and operational procedures.

This was disclosed in a letter addressed to the Vice Chairman and CEO of Max Air on Monday, signed by Capt. Don Spiff, Director of Operations, Licensing, and Training Standards, on behalf of the Director General of Civil Aviation.

SolaceBase reports that the NCAA stated that Max Air had voluntarily suspended its operations for 90 days, effective January 31, 2025, to conduct an internal review after repeated incidents in its domestic services.

Following the audit conducted from February 26 to 28, 2025, the NCAA confirmed that Max Air had demonstrated the capacity to sustain safe flight operations.

Consequently, the Director General of Civil Aviation approved the airline’s return to service, effective midnight on March 17, 2025.  The authority, however, noted that Max Air would be subject to an enhanced surveillance program to ensure continued compliance with aviation regulations
