JUST IN: Petrol price hits N617 per litre

The price of Petrol has increased to about N617 per litre.

A visit to an NNPC filling station in the Central area of Abuja by this reporter confirmed that the fuel price has now been adjusted from N539 to N617 per litre.

Another Customer who confirmed this development said “It is true, I just bought at N617 per liter,”

 The immediate reason could not be ascertained but it is not unconnected to the recent projections by oil marketers that fuel price will hit N700 per litre soon.

 The Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NDMPRA) is yet to comment on it as at the time of filling this report.

However,SOLACEBASE reports that the pump price of fuel at NNPC filling stations in Kano still remain N540 per litre, it has led to long queues of vehicles as motorists embark on panic buying.

A motorist, Ibrahim Kabir said he just heard on the news that the price of fuel has been increased to N617 per litre and a friend told him that the NNPC fiiling station on Murtala Muhammad way , opposite Kano Club still dispense for N540 per litre, hence he has to rush down to buy.

Also, another motorist, David Samuel who expressed sadness over the development said even at N540 per litre, we find it difficult to buy now they said they have increased the price to N617 per litre, i decided to fill my tank before the filling station would adjust their pump price.
