KACCIMA opens 43rd international trade fair in Kano

Kano State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA) has flagged off its  43rd international trade fair.

The opening ceremony with the theme ”Unlocking export opportunities through AFCFTA for Nigeria’s economic growth and development” was held on Saturday at the Trade fair complex, in Kano state.

SOLACEBASE reports that the international Trade fair is a platform that provides opportunities for participants to display their products and exchange ideas in the areas of business promotion and development.

In a remark, Kano state governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, represented by the commissioner of commerce and industry Bar. Ibrahim Mukhtar appreciated elder statesmen, leaders and members of KACCIMA who played vital roles in resolving the recent leadership crisis in the organisation.

“Today we are witnessing 43rd Kano international trade fair being organized by our own KACCIMA, it’s only with determination and hard work that an association like KACCIMA can be maintained for a hundred years, it’s indication of good leadership and management.”

“Kano state is among the few states in Nigeria that established industrial estate as a result of collaborative work between the private sectors and government, new industrial areas were made available at Bompai and followed with Sharada and challawa industrial areas which led to the formation of mega industries.”

“Kano state is also witnessing another industrial growth and development particularly the rice mills industries, over 50 percent of rice mills in Nigeria are located in Kano and many more are under construction.”

“As we lost our position in textile industries, we are now holding the first position in rice milling, this was achieved due to the federal government efforts, new policies in rice importation and series of intervention funds to boost rice production.”

In a remark, KACCIMA, Interim Management Committee Chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Aminu said the Interim Committee is committed to, within the six months tenure assigned to it, try and turn around the fortunes of Kano Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture.

‘’We are doing everything within our power to transform KACCIMA into a real Corporate realm which our teeming members, the Government and good people of Kano State would be proud of,’’ the chairman said.

‘’Like our revered traditional leaders have almost unanimously maintained, now is not a time for squabbles and unnecessary quarrels among KACCIMA’s aspiring leadership contenders. This is more so as the Commercial and industrial outlook of our State is about to witness a dramatic rebirth with the coming on stream shortly, of the Ajaokuta – Kaduna – Kano Gas Pipeline Project.’’

‘’This project is bound to trigger a momentous rejuvenation and growth of our hitherto moribund industrial capacity. It will, in turn, give rise to phenomenal availability of job opportunities for our teeming youths and thus usher in Prosperity and peace to Kano, The presence of Kano Free Trade Zone and other Federal projects geared towards easing the handling of our exportable commodities and wares will also add value to our economic wellbeing as long as we positively leverage on them.’’

In his welcoming address the chairman trade fair committee Alhaji Umar Faruq Dansuleka welcomed all peoples that were present at the event.

“As you are all aware  that Kano international trade fair was designed to boost Nigeria domestic and international trade, industry, mining and agricultural investment for effective retailers wholesalers, innovators public and private sectors for doing trade and business deals.”

He noted that the interim KACCIMA interim management committee will continue to support and contribute economy growth and poverty reduction in Kano state and Nigeria at large.

On his part, Minister of works and housing, Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub said the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has done a lot in ensuring the right environment is created for businesses and industries in Nigeria.

He added that the administration will continue to support the industries, agriculture and other sectors in the country.
