Kano: Alleged plan to sack 5 first class emirs, Gov Yusuf reacts

Kano State government says it has not taken any decision on the new emirates contrary to rumours circulating on social media, on planned move to revisit the issue.

The rumour making the rounds have it that the Governor is set to send a bill before the state assembly for the amendment of Kano Emirates Law.

According to the reports, the bill will seek for the scrapping of the additional four emirates namely Bichi, Gaya, Rano and Karaye with first class Emirs.

SOLACEBASE recalled that the NNPP national leader, Sen. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso had in an interview recently said the incoming government of the Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf will revisit the decision by the former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s administration on dethronement of the former Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II and also creation of new emirates.

However, the state governor’s reaction was contained in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Wednesday.

‘’The engagements between executive and legislative arms of government in Kano will be open and transparent to allow the good people of Kano access to information on major policies and decisions of the NNPP led administration, ‘’the statement said.

‘’His Excellency has submitted a request to appoint 20 special advisers which was graciously approved by the state assembly in its maiden sitting today.’’

It is expected that the list of nominees for commissioners who will serve the next cabinet would be sent to the assembly next week for confirmation.
