Kano approves payment of 11-month outstanding allowances for forest guards

The Kano State Executive Council has approved the settlement of 11 months’ outstanding allowances for 100 forest guards.

SolaceBase reports that the council at a meeting presided by Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf on Monday authorised the payment of the outstanding salaries of ₦11,000,000.00 to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.

Similarly, the state executive council approved 100% upward review of monthly allowances for forest guards under the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.

According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information & Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, on Tuesday,  the Council approved ₦265,803,510.00 to the Ministry of Land and Physical Planning for the payment of compensation to property owners affected by the expansion of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil.

The same ministry was granted ₦81,142,850.00 for compensation related to the construction of Panda–Hamdullahi–Albasu–Sakwayen Dutse road.

Also, ₦3,469,629,136.81 was approved to the Ministry of Works for the provision of wireless solar-powered traffic lights across Kano metropolitan under the Urban Renewal Program.

It said approval of ₦185,162,487.50 was given to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation for the settlement of outstanding fiber optic installation and bandwidth subscription for 2023–2025.

The Council approved ₦327,780,226.89 to the Ministry of Education for the settlement of some outstanding liabilities under the education sector.

The Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) was granted ₦240,506,500.00 for the procurement of fire service vehicles for use in the Government House.

The sum of ₦390,361,730.83 was approved for the Ministry of Works for the supply and installation of elevators at Gidan Murtala and Gidan Ado Bayero.

₦122,161,145.87 was approved to the same ministry for the renovation works at Kano Educational Resources Department (KERD).

₦409,444,909.13 was also approved for the general renovation works at the Kano State Governor’s Lodge, Sultan Road, Kaduna.

To further enhance infrastructure development, the Council approved ₦105,403,453.62 to the Ministry of Works for the construction of Miller Road to Mission Road.

The Ministry of Education was allocated ₦1,212,571,013.79 for the upgrading of the School for Islamic Studies (SIS), Dawakin Tofa, Tofa and Ungogo LGAs.

The Ministry of Water Resources received an approval of ₦1,698,800,000.00 for the settlement of electricity bills, diesel and petrol costs for the months of January to March 2025 at the Greater Kano Works and Water Board Headquarters.

Among other notable approvals:

₦115,959,502.88 for renovation works at the Juma’at Mosque at Amana City;

₦303,399,484.20 for the construction of Juma’at Mosque and ancillary works at Rijiyar Gwangwan, Dawakin Kudu LGA;

₦274,770,887.84 for the construction of perimeter wall fence at Kano State Government House;

₦5,492,077,139.05 for the rehabilitation/asphaltic overlay of roads from Gidan Mallam Aminu Kano (Mumbayya House) to Tal’udu Junction, Gadon Kaya, Yahaya Gusau Road and Sharada Road;

₦15,667,634,645.10 for the settlement of outstanding severance gratuity and allowances of former councillors who served between 2014 and 2024;

₦5,386,380,955.00 for the continuation of the foreign scholarship program and commencement of domestic scholarship program.
