Kano commissioner empowers over 60 women with start-up capital
The Kano State Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr Dahiru Muhammad Hashim, has provided start-up capital to over 60 women from 12 wards in Dala Local Government Area of the State.
Speaking at the event on Sunday, Dr Hashim stated that the initiative was part of his efforts to support party members who contributed significantly to the success of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the Kwankwasiyya movement in the local government.
“We have empowered over 60 women, primarily women leaders and other community members in Dala. Some beneficiaries received ₦100,000, others ₦50,000, while some got ₦20,000,” he explained. “Additionally, we provided special packages to party leaders from the local government level down to the ward level.”
He added that the support was provided through his foundation, Dahir Muhammad Hashim Foundation.


He further revealed that the event also included the distribution of empowerment funds to another 60 individuals, each receiving over ₦1 million.

According to him, the funds, provided by the Kano State government under the leadership of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, are designated for investments in climate-smart agriculture and value chain development, covering production, processing, and packaging. The initiative aims to mitigate the effects of climate change while enhancing food security through sustainable agricultural practices.
He added that the program is being implemented statewide, benefiting a total of 400 individuals with over ₦1 million each. The distribution for beneficiaries in Dala Local Government took place on Sunday.
Dr. Hashim reaffirmed Governor Yusuf’s administration’s commitment to environmental sustainability and economic empowerment.

The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, commended Dr. Hashim for his dedication to party members and the broader community.
“What Dr. Dahiru is doing is commendable. This shows he is on the right track, following the vision of our able governor. Supporting people is a core value of the Kwankwasiyya movement,” Waiya said.
“Dahiru himself benefited from this initiative, which sponsored his education abroad. Now, he has returned and is giving back to society. We are truly proud of him.”

SolaceBase reports that the NNPP Chairman, Dala Local Government, Alhaji Dayyabu Ahmad Mai Turare, also praised Dr. Hashim for his contributions to Dala and Kano State.
He described him as a true son of Dala and prayed for his continued success.
One of the beneficiaries, Hajara Sani, expressed gratitude to Dr. Hashim for his support and pledged to use the capital wisely.
Beneficiaries were urged to use the funds responsibly, with traditional and community leaders playing a key role in ensuring transparency and proper utilization.
