The Kano State Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr Dahir Muhammad Hashim, has inspected ongoing interlock installation and drainage rehabilitation works in several alleys across the state, as part of efforts to improve sanitation and environmental conditions in densely populated communities.

A statement personally signed by the commissioner on Tuesday said the inspection was carried out on the directive of the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.

According to the statement, the commissioner visited several locations where projects are ongoing, including Lungu Alhaji Sharu in Hausawa, Lungu Hajiya Shekara in Hausawa, Lungu Plaza in Makafin Dala, Lungu Masaka in Kofar Mazugal, and Lungu Alhaji Tijjani Mai Cover in Kofar Waika.

Dr. Hashim explained that the “Lungu Kal-Kal” intervention project is designed to improve environmental cleanliness, create a more conducive living atmosphere for residents, and help reduce the spread of diseases associated with poor sanitation.

He noted that the initiative forms part of the state government’s broader commitment to strengthening environmental infrastructure and promoting public health across communities in Kano State.
