The Controller of Corrections, Kano Command, Suleiman Mohammed-Inuwa, on Friday received the newly appointed chairperson of Kano State Committee for the Prerogative of Mercy, Azumi Namadi Bebeji in his office.

Azumi’s courtesy visit was to strengthen the cordial working relationship between the two offices. She expressed her readiness for decongesting the custodial centres in the state as part of the effort championed by His Excellency Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf the Governor of the state.
She also assured the government’s readiness to do the needful for the betterment of the lives of inmates in the custodial centres across the state.

Azumi promised to consider inmates’ cases before the prerogative of the mercy committee as mandated in the Constitution.
In his response, Inuwa thanked Governor Yusuf for inaugurating the committee.
