Kano: Court dismisses Jaafar Sani Bello suit, reaffirms Mohammed Abacha as PDP governorship candidate

A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has dismissed a case filed by Jaafar Sani Bello, who is challenging  Muhammad Sani Abacha as legally recognized member of Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).

In an originating summon, Sani Bello alleged that Abacha did not follow the procedure to register his membership at Local Government and ward levels  respectively.

In his judgement via Zoom, on Wednesday,  Justice A.M Liman disagreed with Jafar Sani Bello, upheld  that there was a waiver from the National level of PDP, stating  that the respondent submitted the waiver to the court as exhibit.

The presiding Judge also said the National leaders of PDP gave waiver to every candidate intended to register with the party and allowed to contest accordingly.

He maintained that the particular waiver covered Muhammad Abacha to contest any position in (PDP).

He also said the court agreed with the respondent’s submission that he was screened by National leaders of the party.

The court accordingly, dismissed the case of Jaafar Sani  Bello  and affirmed that Muhammad Sani Abacha is legally member of PDP

SOLACEBASE recalls that last week the Federal High Court declared Mohammed Abacha as the duly elected Kano governorship candidate of PDP.

The court ruled that INEC should expunge the name of Sadik Aminu Wali that was initially released by INEC as the PDP governorship candidate and substitute it with Mohammed Sani Abacha.
