Amid the lingering political crisis in Kano State, the Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Gwarzo, and several commissioners believed to be loyal to Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, were on Friday sighted at an ongoing Executive Council meeting in Abuja.
SolaceBase reports that the commissioners, including Kwankwaso’s son Mustapha, Yusuf Kofar Mata and other close allies of the former Kano governor, were seen at the meeting at a time of heightened tension between Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his political godfather Rabiu Kwankwaso.

According to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in his opening remark, this 37th State Executive Council meeting holding in Abuja, marks the first council meeting in 2026.
Gov Yusuf used the occasion to wish the council members compliments of the new year, noting that today’s meeting present opportunity to set the tone for the year and review priorities.
The development has further fueled speculation about deep divisions within the ruling New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the state.
The political crisis is believed to be linked to reports that Governor Yusuf is planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a move said to have unsettled the Kwankwasiyya political structure that played a key role in his emergence as governor.
