Hardship: Kano elders warn politicians against ‘unpatriotic statements’

By Muhammad Alhaji

The Patriotic Elders for Peace and Unity in Kano State has expressed displeasure over provocative statements capable of creating serious chaos in the country from various politicians and individuals.

Speaking at the end of an emergency meeting in Kano, the president of the forum, Bature Abdulaziz, said, “It is highly disheartening at this period that every reasonable Nigerian supposed to be Patriotic looking at the critical situation the country found itself, but some disgruntled elements are busy trying to cause civil unrest.

“One cannot comprehend the actual missions of some highly placed politicians who are persistently making comments that could lead to treasonable felony, just because some Policies of the Government have in the first instance created unintended hardship,” he said.

He also said most commentators have missions to plunge Nigeria into war or at most cause confusion, hence, urged Nigerians not to listen to people who clearly do not wish them well and are hellbent on making things more difficult for the country.

“Why is it difficult for those politicians and so-called analysts to understand that today globally there is recession and in those countries, you cannot hear their opposition politicians making similar inflammatory comments, rather they would offer ways that things will be solved.

“Nigeria politicians should borrow a leaf from those countries and try to be Patriotic so that this current unfortunate economic hardship could be solved by the combined efforts of the government, Nigerians, and every other Patriotic Citizen.”

AbdulAziz added they are going to meet the president to offer their advice on what should be done, rather than attacking the government without any concrete solution.
