Kano environment ministry unveils official website for public engagement
The Kano State Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has unveiled its official website, designed to enhance transparency, foster public engagement, and support climate-resilient development in the state.
The Ministry Commissioner, Dr. Dahir M. Hashim, disclosed this in a statement he personally signed on Wednesday.
According to him, the platform — https://environment.kn.gov.ng —marks a significant milestone in the state government’s effort to ensure citizen-centred governance under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
“This platform marks a decisive leap toward the transparent, citizen-centred governance championed by His Excellency, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, and it underscores our unwavering commitment to building a greener, healthier, and more prosperous Kano,” Dr. Hashim said.

SolaceBase reports that the website, described as more than just a digital brochure, features real-time updates on air and water quality, a 24/7 portal for reporting environmental and erosion issues, and detailed information about ministry programs, including the flagship 2025 Five-Million-Tree Planting Campaign.
It also offers opportunities for public participation through a volunteer registration page and job creation initiatives, such as a streamlined recruitment portal and a Public-Private Partnership interface to attract green investments.
Additionally, the site provides easy access to the full text of the Kano State Environmental Pollution Control Law and its Regulations in both English and Hausa, along with a Quick-Contact desk for prompt responses to inquiries.

“This system is another milestone in our broader digital-transformation agenda: empowering communities, safeguarding our natural heritage, and aligning every initiative with the administration’s climate-resilient pathway,” the commissioner added.
He called on all residents of Kano and friends of the state to explore the site and become active contributors to the collective effort to protect the environment.
