Kano: FRSC pledges to sustain working relationship with NUJ correspondents’ chapel

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has expressed readiness to deepen its working relationship with Kano State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to promote public safety and responsible road usage..

FRSC Kano Sector Commander, Corps Commander Muhammad Bature, made the pledge on Tuesday while receiving the new executive members of the chapel at the FRSC Command headquarters in Kano.

According to a statement signed by Secretary, NUJ Kano Correspondents’ Chapel Salim Umar Ibrahim, the sector commander congratulated the new executive members on their successful election and appreciated the visit as a strong sign of commitment to a continued partnership.

“We are pleased with this show of solidarity from the new leadership of the Correspondents’ Chapel. The media plays a vital role in promoting safety culture and responsible road use, and we look forward to working closely with the Chapel for mutual benefit,” Bature stated.

He further invited members of the Chapel to join the FRSC Special Marshal Corps as volunteers in support of the corps’ nationwide efforts to reduce road traffic crashes and fatalities.

“We do a lot, including mobile court patrols, public enlightenment, and law enforcement. With your support, we can bring more innovations that will ensure safety and save lives on Nigerian roads,” Bature added.

SolaceBase reports that the newly elected Chairman of the Chapel, Murtala Adewale, said the objective of the visit was to further strengthen the existing relationship between the chapel and the corps, and to explore new areas of partnership aimed at enhancing public enlightenment on road safety.

“As a media body, we understand the crucial role the FRSC plays in saving lives and ensuring sanity on Nigerian roads. We are here not only to strengthen our bond but also to offer our support in promoting the activities and initiatives of the Kano Sector Command,” he said.

While recalling his own experience serving with the FRSC as a Youth Corps member in 2008, Adewale expressed optimism that the Chapel would offer its platform for advocacy campaigns that would drive greater awareness on road safety across Kano and beyond.

The visit ended with a mutual commitment by both bodies to work together in promoting responsible driving culture and reducing road traffic incidents in Kano and across the state.
