Kano Govt approves payment of nine-months salary arrears for 2,369 sanitation workers
Kano State Executive Council under the leadership of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the payment of nine months’ salary arrears to 2,369 sanitation workers across the state.
The payment covers outstanding dues from June 2024 to February 2025 and was facilitated by the Kano State Executive Council.
The Commissioner for Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Dahir M. Hashim, made this known on Tuesday, saying that the approval is a significant move to support environmental sustainability, in the state.
He praised the state’s ongoing commitment to improving its citizens’ quality of life and environmental hygiene.

“This action is a testament to the tireless efforts of His Excellency Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf to foster a cleaner and healthier environment for all. The timely payment of these arrears will go a long way in motivating our sanitation workers, who have shown exceptional dedication despite the delay,” Dr. Hashim stated.
“The sanitation workers, who have been instrumental in maintaining cleanliness across Kano State, have displayed remarkable patience over the past months as they awaited their compensation.”
SolaceBase reports that Dr. Hashim also expressed gratitude to the Kano State Executive Council for the support in facilitating the payment.
Additionally, the Commissioner confirmed that other sanitation personnel, including House-to-House Inspectors and members of the Sanitation Vanguard, will soon be assessed for similar opportunity. The Ministry is urging these workers to be prepared for upcoming evaluations and payments.
