The Kano State Government has declared Friday, Sept. 12 as a public holiday to commemorate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The holiday marks the Maulud celebration, corresponding to 19th Rabi’ul Awwal 1447 AH.
This is contained in a statement issued by Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, on Thursday in Kano.
Waiya calls on civil servants, private sector members, and the general public to observe the holiday peacefully and in accordance with the Prophet’s teachings.

He encourages citizens to reflect on unity, tolerance, and obedience, and urges prayers for peace and progress.
The Government extends warm felicitations, wishing citizens a peaceful Maulud celebration. (NAN)
