Kano govt inaugurates NYSC climate change group, engages 1,820 corps members

The Kano State Government has inaugurated the Climate Change Community Development Service (CDS) group at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp in Karaye as part of its efforts to advance environmental sustainability.

The initiative was launched by the state’s Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Dahir M. Hashim, on Wednesday who engaged with 1,820 corps members on their role in tackling climate challenges at the grassroots level.

Dr. Hashim emphasized the urgency of the climate crisis and the need for collective action.

“The corps members have a unique opportunity to drive change during their service year by educating communities, promoting sustainability, and implementing impactful projects,” he said.

He encouraged those passionate about environmental issues to join the CDS group, which he described as a platform for turning ideas into action.
