Kwankwasiyya Scholars Reunion: Kano govt pledges continued support to educational development
Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to education and healthcare development, highlighting key initiatives aimed at empowering scholars and professionals in the state.
The State Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Dahiru M. Hashim, who represented Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at a grand reunion of 300 Kano Medical Scholars organized by the Kwankwasiyya Scholars Medical Team, on Monday.
He expressed appreciation for the support provided to the scholars by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
“As a proud member of this group, I acknowledge the immense support we received from our mentor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who sponsored our education in various universities worldwide during his tenure in 2013,” he stated.

On behalf of the governor, Dr. Hashim commended Kwankwaso, the NNPP National Leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, for initiating the scholarship program, which has helped many Kano indigenes pursue medical education.
He also praised the scholars for their dedication to completing their studies and contributing to the development of the state.
The commissioner reaffirmed Governor Yusuf’s commitment to sustaining the initiative by prioritizing education in the state budget, sponsoring 1,001 scholars for international studies, granting automatic employment to medical and engineering graduates under the scholarship scheme, lifting the embargo on health sector employment, and pledging to build 484 Primary Healthcare Centers—one in each ward of the state.

“This initiative is another testament to the Kwankwasiyya Movement’s unwavering commitment to providing quality education and empowering the masses,” Dr. Hashim added.
He concluded by praying for continued visionary leadership in Kano State, highlighting the contributions of both Governor Yusuf and Senator Kwankwaso to education and development.
