JUST IN: Kano govt stops conferment, upgrading of traditional titles in all the emirates

The Kano State government has ordered the stoppage of conferment and upgrading of traditional titles in all 5 emirate councils until further notice.

This was contained in a letter addressed to all the five Emirate Councils in the State and signed by the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Local Government Affairs, Ibrahim Kabara. 

It could be recalled that Bichi Emirate Council was stopped from turbaning Salisu Ado Bayero as a district head in the emirate on February 2nd, 2024 by the state government.

According to the letter dated 28th February, 2024 the state government said the directive was due to certain exigencies at the moment.

In the letter addressed to all the emirate council, they were directed to henceforth, obtain timely clearance and approval from the office of the Honorable Commissioner Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs on such programs.
