Kano inaugurates governing council members of six tertiary institutions

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has inaugurated members of governing council of Kano state owned tertiary institutions.

The inauguration on Wednesday follows the recommendation of visitation panel and white paper recommended to the state government.

SOLACEBASE reports that those institutions that got new governing council include Sa’adatu Rimi University of education; Kano state Polytechnic, Audu Bako College of Agriculture, Danbatta; College of Art and Legal Studies; Kano state Art and Remedial Studies and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso Basic and Remedial Studies.

Addressing the new appointees, Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Mariya Bunkure explained that the council members were selected based on competence and vast managerial knowledge to impact positively on the growth of the institution.

She disclosed that government hold them in high esteem and expectation from the new members to add their wealth of knowledge to bear.

Although, she regretted that most of the institutions have no functional governing council, the commissioner reminded the appointment will bring about a paradigm shift in the education system.

Those appointed include Professor Mohammad Attahiru Jega chairman governing council of Sa’adatu Rimi University of education; Professor Abba Salihi Chairman Kano Polytechnic, governing council and Professor Abdu Yahaya Bichi Chairman Audu Bako College of Agriculture Danbatta.

Others are Barrister Sanusi Musa SAN, Chairman governing council College of Art and Legal Studies; Professor Abdulrasheed Garba Chairman Kano State Art and Remedial Studies; and Professor Yusuf Bala chairman governing council, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso College of Basic and Remedial Studies.

In his acceptance speech on behalf of the new council members, Professor Abba Salihi applauded the state government for finding the members worthy of the appointment.

He pleaded that the appointed members would work with dedication and commitment to implement the resolution of the white paper.
