Kano launches first mobile motor license centre in Nigeria

Kano State Board of Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) has unveiled the first mobile motor license centre in Nigeria.

SolaceBase reports that the mobile centre will host a state-of-the-art digital Motor License Office (MLO) which is said to be the first of its kind in Nigeria.

While launching the mobile motor centre during KIRS day at the Kano 45th International Trade Fair, KIRS Executive Chairman Dr Zaid Abubakar said, the gesture introduced by the service is geared toward a robust revenue generation drive that will ensure a rise in the state revenue generation.

According to him, Kano state government under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is committed to ensuring that revenue is being paid with ease aa at when due by eligible bodies.

He explained that the newly introduced IT-driven license centre will assist in boosting the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

“This facility is the first of its kind in Nigeria, that is Kano state is the first to launch such a move which is IT driven to register vehicles anywhere and at any time. This attempt will ease the process as well as reduce unforeseen obstacles usually encountered,” he said.

Similarly, KIRS Executive Director Compliance and Enforcement Group Malam Muhammad Abba Aliyu said, the service had launched two mobile centres for now with the hope of expansion with many other more centres to be able to cover the state effectively.

Companies like Bristol Palace Hotel, Dala Foods Nigeria Limited, and Ultimate Gas Limited are among several companies awarded for prompt tax payment during the event.
