Kano launches project monitoring, service reporting platforms to boost transparency

The Kano State Government has launched two digital platforms—the Kano State Integrated Projects Monitoring System (KSIPMS) and the Fix Kano App—as part of efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability and citizen engagement in governance.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Open Government Partnership (OGP), Hon. Musaddiq Kabir Adam.

According to the statement, the platforms were introduced under the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to deepen open governance and improve the relationship between the government and citizens through participatory and transparent public administration.

It explained that the KSIPMS allows residents to monitor government projects in real time, providing access to key information such as project budgets, timelines and progress reports to ensure effective use of public funds and timely project delivery.

The statement added that the Fix Kano App enables citizens to report challenges related to public services and infrastructure, creating a direct channel for government response and allowing users to track the resolution of reported issues.

The initiatives, the statement noted, align with the Kano State Revised Open Government Partnership Action Plan 2024–2026, which prioritises improved service delivery, anti-corruption measures and enhanced citizen participation in governance.

It further stated that members of the OGP family have commended Governor Yusuf for his commitment to the principles of transparency, accountability and inclusive governance, describing the platforms as major steps toward building public trust.

The statement emphasised that the platforms are designed to ensure citizens are active participants in governance rather than passive observers, adding that sustained public engagement would help strengthen confidence in public administration across the state.
