Kano LG chairman clarifies attack, says incident was armed robbery, not terrorists action

The Chairman of Rimin Gado Local Government, in Kano State, Muhammad Sani Salisu Jili, has clarified that the recent attack on Gulu village was carried out by armed robbers and not terrorists, contrary to reports circulating on social media.

According to the Chairman, the incident occurred on Thursday around 7 p.m. when four armed men arrived in the village on two motorcycles. They proceeded to the shop of a local businessman, Alhaji Musa Mai Dusa, where they robbed him before fleeing the scene.

He confirmed that no casualties were recorded during the incident.

Chairman Jili called for calm and cautioned residents against spreading unverified information that could escalate panic.

He assured that the local government is working closely with security agencies to intensify surveillance, boost intelligence gathering, and ensure rapid response to threats across communities within Rimin Gado and beyond.

He also appealed for increased community vigilance, noting that security requires strong collaboration between residents and law enforcement agencies to effectively safeguard lives and property.

SolaceBase reports that in recent weeks, bandits reportedly attacked several communities in Shanono, Bagwai, and neighbouring local government areas, of Kano heightening tension and fears among residents.
