The Kabo Local Government Council in Kano State has launched a major empowerment program aimed at improving livelihoods and boosting grassroots economic activity.

This development was disclosed in a statement signed and issued by the council’s Information Officer, Muhammad Salisu.

The statement noted that the initiative, led by the Council Chairman, Hon. Lawan Najume Kabo, provided N30,000 each to 564 residents across the ten wards of the local government, totalling N16.92 million.

It also included the distribution of ten brand new motorcycles to NNPP ward chairmen to enhance coordination and mobility.

Hon. Kabo, while addressing attendees at the event, said the program was part of his administration’s commitment to reducing economic hardship and ensuring that every citizen feels included in the development process.

“This initiative is in line with the manifesto of our great party, the NNPP, and the Kwankwasiyya philosophy of inclusive governance and social justice,” he said.

He also expressed appreciation to Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for what he described as “continuous support toward grassroots-focused interventions.”

The occasion was attended by several dignitaries, including the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, ALGON Chairperson, Hajiya Sa’adatu Salisu Yusha’u, Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. Nasiru Sule Garo, and the chairmen of Dawakin Tofa and Ungogo LGAs.

Hajiya Yusha’u described the empowerment scheme as a reflection of people-focused leadership.

“Hon. Kabo has shown that responsive governance is possible when the welfare of constituents, especially women, is made a top priority,” she said.

Also speaking at the event, Nasiru Sule Garo praised the program, calling it “a bold and commendable human development stride,” and urged the chairman to continue delivering projects that make a difference at the community level.

One of the beneficiaries, Malam Ya’u Abubakar Karangiya, who is also the NNPP chairman of Kabo Ward, said the cash support would help many residents invest in small businesses and daily needs.

“This is not just about money—it’s about giving people hope and a reason to stay committed to the vision of the party,” he said.
