The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Kano Branch, has announced its intention to closely monitor the trial of Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu, an alleged notorious drug dealer recently arrested in the state by the police.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the chairman of the branch, Barr Usman Umar Fari, who emphasised the association’s commitment to upholding justice and the rule of law.
SolaceBase recalls that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, last Wednesday, filed eight-count charges at the Federal High Court, Kano, against the notorious drug dealer, Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu.
On May 10, the Kano Police Command announced the arrest of the suspected drug baron, alongside other suspected criminals in the state.

Danwawu was subsequently transferred to the NDLEA for further investigation and prosecution.
In the charge sheet, the anti-narcotics agency filed eight-count charges bordering on possession of various forms of narcotic substances.
According to the statement, the NBA expressed concern about the growing problem of drug abuse in the state and believes that the outcome of the trial will have significant implications for the fight against drug trafficking and abuse in Kano and its environs.
The association also urged relevant authorities to handle the case with utmost seriousness to ensure justice is served and the legal process is followed diligently.
