Kano: New environment commissioner assumes office with pledge of open door policy
The newly appointed Kano State Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Dahir Muhammad Hashim has urged staff of the Ministry to step up efforts to ensure no stone is left unturned to make the state green.
Hashim stated this on Monday while addressing the crowd of well-wishers who accompanied him to his new office as a commissioner.
He expressed delight at the warm reception accorded him by the staff of the Ministry and pledged to operate an open-door policy for maximum collaboration and synergy.

SolaceBase reports that prior to Dr. Dahir’s appointment as commissioner, he was the Project Coordinator, Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL), in Kano, a World Bank program in collaboration with the Federal Government and the 19 northern states.

A statement issued by Ismail Garba Gwammaja, Director Public Enlightenment, of the ministry said Dr. Hashim who earlier expressed gratitude to God over the appointment, commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for finding him worthy in this capacity and promising to work assiduously towards achieving the organizational goals.
The Commissioner further enjoined the heads of various departments to come up with a progress report and mandate of their departments for seamless operations.
Earlier, the Ag. Permanent Secretary who doubled as Director, Administration and General Services Adamu Fate Jigaware restated the readiness and willingness of the Ministry staff to support the Commissioner to succeed in his new mandate.
Also speaking at the event were the Chairman, Dala local government council Hon. Surajo Imam and Dala NNPP Chairman, Alhaji Dayyabu Ahmed Maiturare among others.
