The Kano Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), NIM, has conducted its 2025 election during the institute’s Annual General Meeting, ushering in a new set of executives who will serve for the next two years.
The election, following the expiration of the previous tenure that began in 2023, was described as peaceful and orderly by members and officials who monitored the process.
SolaceBase reports that other executives who were returned to their positions on Saturday include Murtala Alhaji Shehu as Vice Chairman, Kabir Nasir as Secretary-General, Adam Abdullahi as Treasurer, and the Public Relations Executive, among others, who will serve alongside the chairman in managing the affairs of the chapter for the next two years
Speaking shortly after overseeing the exercise, the Chairman of the electoral committee, Dr. Kamal Mustapha, said the poll was successful, though it witnessed limited interest from prospective contestants.
Represented by a member of the committee, Dr. Sagir Abbas Usman, he stated, “The election has been smooth and successful. The only issue is that people are running away from responsibilities, which led to fewer contestants.”

He explained that the committee had earlier communicated the election date, guidelines, and the list of available positions through the institute’s official WhatsApp platform.
According to him, only eight members purchased and submitted nomination forms—a number that matched the available positions. “There was poor turnout in terms of expressing interest.
Coincidentally, the eight people who obtained forms were the same eight required for the offices, most of whom are outgoing officials. They were therefore returned elected,” he added.
A representative of the national leadership, Deputy President Dr. Umar Musa Mustapha, who witnessed the election, also commended the orderly conduct of the process.
“The chapter has shown stability, and I urge the new leadership to build on that progress. It was a very peaceful election.

“New officials have emerged, and I wish them well. I hope the chapter will continue to improve, especially in membership growth and revenue drive,” he stated.
Dr. Mustapha further emphasized the importance of dues, training, and attendance in strengthening the institute.
“Members must understand that training is compulsory. They should attend meetings regularly and ensure prompt payment of annual subscriptions,” he said.
In his remarks after being sworn in, the newly re-elected chairman, Rabo Ado Shuaibu, expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in the executive team, noting that their re-election reflects members’ satisfaction with their previous efforts.
“My message to members is simple they should be more committed. They should participate in meetings and lecture sessions, and they should pay their chapter and national dues so we can run the chapter effectively,” he said.
He assured members that the new leadership would intensify efforts to strengthen the chapter.
“We will take the chapter to greater heights. We will continue with our membership drive and ensure active participation at zonal and national levels,” he added.
The newly returned executives include the chairman, vice chairman, secretary-general, treasurer, and other key positions responsible for steering the affairs of the institute for the next two years.
