Kano Peace Committee appeals to youth to shun planned protest
The Kano Peace Committee (KPC) has appealed to youth in the state to distance themselves from a planned nationwide protest scheduled to begin today, October, 1st.
A statement issued by Ambassador Ibrahim Waiya, Convener/Head of Secretariat, Kano Peace Committee (KPC) on Monday, urged the youth in the state to shun the planned protest in the interest of peace, security and integrity.
The statement read, ‘’Our attention has been drawn to an increasing circulation of a sponsored campaign by some elements, towards mobilizing Kano Youth to participate in the planned protest billed to begin from tomorrow, 1st October 2024.
‘’The CONTINOUS campaign to woo, the Kano youth s to come on the streets to continue with the End bad Governance protest, as a second phase of the national protest, which occurred between 1st to 10th August 2024, is not only misleading, unpatriotic but also ill-timed.’’

‘’Let us remind the youths that, Kano State experienced one of its worst nightmares, during the last national protest more than any State in the country, and we are yet to recover from huge loss, which wasted billions worth of public and private properties, as well as human lives.
The last protest in Kano, did not only cause the State, a big setback economically, socially and commercially but has also caused so much damage to our integrity, respect and honor amongst all other States in the Federation. It is therefore quite unthinkable, for any reasonable and responsible Kano citizen to think of participating in any protest in Kano State, in the near future.
‘’We wish to use this medium to also draw the attention of our youths that, many of those that participated in the previous protest are still rotting in jail, while those who instigated and pushed them into the protests, to destroy public and private properties, peace and security of the State, have now abandoned them to their self inflicted fate.’’
‘’As youths, we have to use our brains as humans to think and do only what could be of positive use to our lives and the lives of our countrymen and women. It is high time to have a second thought in our lives by taking bold steps to emancipate ourselves from the aged clutches of political manipulation, masterminded by some evil and selfish politicians, who have always on the mission to destroy the future of our youths.
It is worthy to note that, those evilly-minded individuals are busy preparing a good future for their children, admitting them into the best schools around the World, and preserving lucrative jobs and appointments for their children on their return to the country
‘’It is imperative to rediscover ourselves as an honourable human being created by Almighty God, equal with all others, regardless of any colour, social and financial status, or leadership position. We need to respect ourselves as human beings and refuse to continue to serve as slaves to other fellow human beings
‘’In conclusion, we wish to remind ourselves that, Kano State is the only State we have gotten as ours, we therefore have a duty to protect and preserve its integrity, honour and respect, against all evil plans which may aim at destroying the State, or subject the Kano residents to an unprecedented difficulties and unjustified hardship.
‘’It is equally imperative, to at this juncture appreciate the efforts of the security agencies, for safeguarding the State, and we urge them to continue to do everything professional and within the ambit the law, to secure the State and the residents from any potential danger
‘’It is time to join our hands, to SALVAGE OUR DEAR STATE AND OUR COUNTRY, from any evil plans that may destroy our peace, security and peaceful co-existence.
