Kano reads riot act to patent medicine stores operating clinical services as it shut down one

Kano State Government has read a riot act to patent medicine stores contravening laws establishing them.

The government said this as it discovered and closed down a patent medicine store at Sumaila Local Government Area of the state that was conducting clinical activities.

According to the state Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA), the discovery was made during an  ongoing commitments toward sanitizing the private health practices in the  state.

A statement issued by the Executive Secretary, Private Health Institutions Management Agency, Dr. Tijjani Aliyu Usman, on Tuesday said the patent medicine store called Sauki chemist is situated at Sitti village in the local government.

‘’PHIMA during the visit, found and confiscated three hospital beds, drip stands , used syringes and other hospital  consumables in the premises and this contravenes the laws and guidelines of the agency and the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) as well, said the statement.

The statement added that with this persistent unhealthy practices in patent medicine stores across the state, the agency will continue and will intensify its campaign against quackery and anyone found to be conducting  such quackery, shall be dealt with  in accordance with the law and guidelines of the Agency.
