Kano varsity resumes academic activities October 24

The Senate of Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano (YUMSUK) has approved the commencement of the Second Semester Lectures for the 2020/2021 Academic Session with effect from Monday, October 24, 2022.

SOLACEBASE reports that the Senate gave the approval at its Emergency Meeting, held today, Monday, October 17, 2022.

This follows the suspension of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) 8 months strike, that ended last Friday, nationwide.

A statement issued by Abdullahi Abba Hassan, Head, Information, Publications, Protocol and Public Relations Unit of the university, said during the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of the Senate of the University, Prof. Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa assured of provision of conducive learning environment.

He reaffirmed his administration’s determination to uplift the standard of the university, adding that the university has secured approval for some new undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

Prof. Kurawa said the university under him has recorded a lot of accomplishments in the areas of Academic and Infrastructural Development.

The Vice-Chancellor revealed that there are five different categories of works that are taking place at the university’s Main Campus.

He explained that there are those that are supported by the state government, TETFUND, CBN, philanthropists and also the university itself.

They include roads network and buildings of Faculties of Science and Humanities, male and female Mosque, female and male hostels, female students common room and central store, while that of Printing Press has been completed.
