Residents of Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters in Kumbotso local government area of Kano were thrown into shock on Saturday afternoon after unknown hoodlums reportedly broke into a residential house and brutally killed a woman and her six children.
The incident occurred at the residence of Haruna Bashir, where the victims, Fatima Abubakar and her six children, were attacked by the assailants, who allegedly used dangerous weapons during the assault.
The neighbours were said to have raised the alarm after discovering the lifeless bodies of the victims, prompting panic and grief across the community.
SolaceBase reports that the bodies were later evacuated from the scene and rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where doctors confirmed them dead.

Following the incident, the Kano State Police Command confirmed receiving a distress call at about 12:10 p.m. on January 17, 2025.
A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, immediately mobilised a team of officers to the area, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Lawal Isah Mani.
The statement added that the comprehensive investigation has been ordered, with the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), ACP Wada Jarma, directed to lead the probe aimed at tracking down and arresting the perpetrators.
The police also extended their condolences to the bereaved family, residents of Dorayi Chiranchi and the people of Kano State, while assuring the public that those responsible for the heinous act would be brought to justice.
