JUST IN: KANSIEC reduces 2024 LG elections nomination fees
Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has reviewed the fees for nomination forms for local government elections, following a court order.
SolaceBase had reported that a Federal High Court in Abuja restrained the Kano State Independence Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) from charging or imposing N10m and N5m from contestants into the offices of Chairman/Vice Chairman and Councillorship in the forthcoming local government election.
The suit was instituted by the Action Peoples Party (APP), Action Democratic Party (ADP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The commission chairman, Prof. Sani Malumfashi on Friday at a news conference said the fees have been reduced.

He said that candidates for the chairmanship position will pay N9m instead of N10m, while those contesting for councillorship will obtain the form at N4m instead of N5m
“We are law-abiding. The new fees are set at N9m for the chairmanship and vice-chairmanship, while councillors will pay N4 million Naira,” said Malumfashi.
