Kebbi LG council releases names of 25 abducted schoolgirls, denies U.S. lawmaker’s claim

The Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area , in Kebbi State, on Wednesday released the names of the 25 schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive School, Maga, while refuting claims by U.S. lawmaker Riley Moore that the incident occurred in a Christian enclave.

The Council Chairman, Hussaini Aliyu, clarified that all the abducted students are Muslims and urged the lawmaker to refrain from making unverified statements that could inflame religious or ethnic tensions, especially while efforts are ongoing to rescue the girls.

Aliyu emphasized that the Zuru Emirate, under which the Maga community falls, has a longstanding record of religious harmony, questioning why such claims were made that could portray Nigeria negatively.
