Kebbi senators defect to APC after meeting President Tinubu
Three senators from Kebbi State, elected under the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), have formally announced their decision to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Their move came after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja on Friday.
The senators—Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central), Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North), and Garba Maidoki (Kebbi South)—were accompanied to the meeting by APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.

The meeting also included the presence of Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris; Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu; and the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu.

This defection is part of a larger trend of PDP members crossing over to the ruling APC in recent weeks.
The shift in allegiance comes as a significant political move for the senators, who were previously aligned with the opposition party.
In his remark, Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris said the defection of the three senators is expected to have considerable political ramifications within Kebbi State, further solidifying APC’s influence in the region.
