Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN),Kano has officially commissioned a new mosque dedicated to its female students in a move aimed at enhancing spiritual development, discipline, and overall student welfare.
The development was disclosed in a statement by the Acting Director of Corporate Affairs and Marketing Directorate, Bilal Dahiru Tijjani, on Monday.
According to the statement, the commissioning ceremony was held earlier in the day, with the university’s management emphasizing that the new female mosque would serve as a space for congregational prayers, Islamic discussions, and preaching.

SolaceBase reports that the facility is also expected to help regulate students’ movements, in line with KHAIRUN’s policy of prioritizing the safety and well-being of its female students.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, alongside other principal officers of the university, graced the occasion and expressed optimism that the new place of worship would greatly benefit the female student community.

He also encouraged the students to make the best use of the facility, describing it as a significant milestone in the university’s journey toward nurturing a balanced academic and spiritual environment.
