KHAIRUN holds maiden matriculation for pioneer students in Kano

Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN), has matriculated 98 students for the 2023/2024 academic session as pioneer students.

SolaceBase reports that the matriculated students include 34 males and 64 females, with Kano state having the highest number of students 80, followed by Katsina, Jigawa and other states.

In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, on Thursday congratulated the students for successfully passing the rigorous selection process that earned them a place in the university.

Garba expressed his pride in leading the first set of students as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor, stressing the unique opportunity these students have to build on the rich legacy left behind by the late Khalifa.

“You are the first set of students, and I am the first Vice-Chancellor leading the first crop of management members. I congratulate you for being part of this positive side of history,” Professor Garba said.

He highlighted the late Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu’s lifelong dedication to promoting education, from nursery schools to the establishment of this prestigious university.

He reminded students that they are not just beneficiaries of this educational institution but part of a broader legacy of knowledge and philanthropy.

He urged the students to adhere to the university’s rules and regulations, emphasizing the need for personal discipline, ethical behaviour, and academic integrity.

The matriculation ceremony featured students from various faculties, including Allied Medical Sciences, Science and Computing, and Engineering.

Some of the students expressed their joy and gratitude for being part of the historic matriculation, adding that they are ready to embrace the challenges ahead.
