Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN), on Thursday, held its second matriculation ceremony, officially welcoming 578 new students from across Nigeria into its academic community.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, warmly received the new intakes and reiterated KHAIRUN’s mission to remain a value-driven institution rooted in entrepreneurship, Islamic morals, and Qur’anic education.
Garba described the matriculation oath as a symbolic moment that marks the students’ formal entry into the global academic community and urged them to uphold the institution’s core values in their academic pursuits and personal conduct.
The Acting Director, Corporate Affairs and Marketing Directorate, Bilal Tijjani, in a statement, said the Vice Chancellor offered prayers for the founder of the institution, late Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu (Khadimul Qur’an), whose enduring vision continues to guide the university’s progress.

Professor Garba highlighted some of the university’s achievements, noting that the successful hosting of over 20 academic seminars and lectures, the launch of two international academic journals and two professional journals, and strategic partnerships with both local and international institutions, research organizations, and non-governmental bodies.
He also pointed to remarkable improvements in infrastructure, including a transformed university library with expanded collections, digital access, and longer operating hours.
He noted that the university now offers smart classrooms, a fully operational website, and round-the-clock security to enhance the learning environment.

“Other notable milestones include the institutionalization of Qur’anic recitation and memorization for 100- and 200-level students, full compliance with the NUC Academic Brief (2022), the launch of the university’s 2025–2027 Strategic Plan, and the establishment of a dedicated Quality Assurance Office.”
The Vice Chancellor further revealed that preparations are in advanced stages for the introduction of Law (LLB) and Medicine (MBBS) programmes.
The Registrar of the university, Yusuf Datti, administered the matriculation oath, officially inducting the new students into the academic community of the university.
