KNUPDA demolishes Tiktoker Rahama Saidu’s shop over illegal construction
The Kano Urban Planning and Development Authority (KNUPDA) has demolished part of a shop owned by popular TikToker, Rahama Saidu, located along UDB Road in Tarauni Local Government Area.
SolaceBase reports that the demolition, which also affected several other structures, was carried out by the KNUPDA Taskforce Committee on Illegal Structures on Thursday.
According to officials, the affected buildings were illegally constructed on public pathways, violating city planning regulations.
Rahama Saidu’s shop had earlier come under scrutiny when KNUPDA removed her signboard for encroaching on public space.

The removal of the signboard reportedly prompted Saidu to report the matter to the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.
Following her complaint, the Commission’s chairman summoned relevant KNUPDA directors for questioning regarding the structure.
However, the incident appeared to accelerate enforcement activities, and KNUPDA launched a renewed demolition campaign, targeting illegal structures in the Tarauni area, including the portion of Saidu’s shop built on the pathway.
Officials have reiterated that the exercise is part of a broader effort to restore order to urban planning in Kano and ensure that public walkways and right-of-ways are not obstructed by unauthorized constructions.
