The 2025 Gani Festival was celebrated on Saturday in Yashikra town, Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State, with dignitaries from within and outside Nigeria in attendance.
SolaceBase reports that the annual cultural celebration, which brings together indigenes of Yashikra at the forecourt of the Emir’s palace, featured thousands of horsemen clad in colourful regalia, showcasing the rich heritage of the Yashikra Emirate.
Speaking during the event, the Emir of Yashikra, Alhaji Imorou Usman Sariki Sabi-Kpasi II, urged the people of Baruten to embrace the culture of love, stressing that unity would ensure the area’s progress.


The Emir commended the efforts of both the federal and state governments in tackling insecurity but appealed for more decisive action to curb the menace.
He also advised youths to shun drug abuse, noting that doing so would make them more useful to themselves and to society.
Also speaking, the Emir of Ilesha Baruba, Professor Halidu Abubakar, called on the people of Baruten to put aside personal and communal differences in order to achieve collective growth and development in the region.
