Local innovator unveils AI tracking device to combat theft, abduction

A Nigerian innovator, Khalifa Aminu, has unveiled a newly developed smart tracking device aimed at tackling the growing cases of child abduction, vehicle theft and livestock rustling across the country.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with SolaceBase, Aminu said the device, known as Smart AI Tracking System, was created to provide real-time tracking and improved security for children, vehicles and animals.

According to him, the device combines GPS, SIM technology and artificial intelligence to monitor movement anywhere in the world. He explained that it can be placed inside children’s school bags, installed in vehicles or attached to livestock such as cattle for constant monitoring.

“This is more than just an ordinary tracking device. The AI system learns regular movement patterns, monitors distance and detects any unusual change in movement,” he said.

He explained that if a child is taken to an unfamiliar location, the device immediately raises an alarm, sends the exact location and alerts the owner to a possible abduction.

“If a child is taken somewhere he or she does not normally go, the system will instantly trigger an alert and send the location directly. The same applies to stolen vehicles or missing livestock, which can be tracked in real time,” Aminu stated.

He said the innovation was inspired by the increasing cases of insecurity, especially incidents involving child theft, vehicle theft and cattle rustling.

“I built this device because of the rising cases of children being stolen, vehicles going missing, and animals being rustled. Technology should be used to solve these problems and protect lives and property,” he added.
